Wow, That Hurt Like Hell Part 12846

So I've been saving up for a little over 5 years to get a new tattoo. I personally Can't believe it's been that long but it has. Every "Go get yourself that tattoo" birthday card, father's day card and Christmas card is being cashed in and all the money I've been stashing away from such things is finally coming out of storage. I've even had most of the art work picked out YEARS ago.

So yesterday it was time to start. First piece to get done is a bio-mechanical piece that will incorporate my Japanese lettering and cover up my first (and very shitty) tattoo I ever got. That first one is mostly faded away into nothing because it was done so poorly, and has bothered me for years, time to cover it up. My tattoo guy is doing a few modifications to the bio-mech piece in the color and shape departments, so it fits in and around the rest of my work a little better.

So I showed up as the parlour opened yesterday, talked a few ideas over with the guys and we started the inking. Almost six and a half hours later I had to call it quits. The shop record was 7 hours straight and that was for one of the guys who actually worked there. By the time we hit 6 hours, Travis (the guy working on me) and myself where both starting to break mentally and physically. Granted we had only taken 2 short (2-5 minute) breaks during the whole day and that probably played into it quite a bit.

Honestly it didn't even really hurt for the first few hours, but as my skin became hamburger and as any endorphins and other biological defense mechanism ran down it began to really hurt. Doing nothing but having your skin stabbed and cut for hours and hours also plays with your mind. I can totally see how effective real torture could be. Another two or three hours and I would have told Travis my account number or if I've ever worn ladies underwear if he had asked.

By the time we stopped I was kinda messed up. If you have never had a tattoo it is hard to explain, but it does mess with your body in strange ways. Some people throw up, some cry, some laugh, some act drunk... for me my mind gets hazy... At 6 1/2 hours? Suddenly my legs where gone and I was a little nauseous. It could have been that I hadn't eaten all day or that I was totally dehydrated, but it was time to call it a day.

So now I have to wait at least 4 week, probably a little more while what he did yesterday heals. When that's all healed up then he can start on the rest, add more colors and shading and bring the whole thing to life. Everyone in the shop kept commenting on how nice the piece was going to be and how BIG it was. I didn't really think it was that big, but it does eat up almost all my upper arm.

Wow, 4 weeks is a long time to wait to have something like this done! ARRRR!

Gratuitous Hot Chick
