Batman Begins-- I Can't Wait

I have been a Batman fan forever. Not the goofy 60's TV Batman, but the real Batman story. The fucking psycho dealing out an eye-for-an-eye justice, often going to far and losing control, dealing with the psychosis of his split personality, the fact that he's only a normal man and gets hurt and hurts others, has regrets and seems to live in a very violent depression, constantly troubled by emotional problems, and taking out his pain and frustration on the evil of Gotham. The guy cried, screamed , killed, PUNISHED! The only super power he had was a warped sense of revenge on evil. The bad guy weren't afraid of him because they would go to jail, they feared what HE would do to them. He dealt out his own justice!

The Batman I grew up reading about would sit home brooding about his parents death, being Batman or something else troubling him or the world, get totally pissed, suit up and go looking for the bad guys. He didn't care if it was just a purse snatcher he caught and beat to a pulp (or killed) or if it was the Joker. The guy on TV or in the movies has never been like this. Mainly because someone that crazy isn't likable. He's a vigilante, he's not supposed to be likable!

The guy I grew up reading VS. the guy on TV

Tim Burton really had the potential to capture the feel and story, and came close with the first movie, but really, after that it was all down hill quickly. Michael Keaton was great and played the very serious troubled Batman, and I thought Clooney could have been great with better direction and a better story, but other than that the movies have largely been "villain of the week" type fare. ... which brings me to Batman Begins.

I have hope... A lot of hope for this movie. As a matter of fact I haven't seen a movie in the theater since my son was born a year and a 1/2 ago, cause I don't want to miss a minute with him, but I might just be calling a baby sitter so I can catch this one. It finally promises a dark Batman. (He wasn't just called the Dark Knight because he was in black or worked at night, this guy was MEAN!)

Please, please, please, let the reviews be right for once and lets get a Batman movie that is right on the money for once!

Gratuitous hot chick of the day from the net (Thanks to the guy who suggested her, she's the chick from TLC's "Overhauling")
